The second annual Louisiana Veterans Festival will be held Saturday (May 16) in Slidell, and proceeds will go to the East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity to help r build homes for veterans. The festival is from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Northshore Harbor Center.
The first festival last year attracted more than 2,000 and raised more than $50,000, festival organizers said.
Admission is $8 per person and $5 per veteran. Children 12 and under are free.
This year’s event features food, crafts, a car show and continuous music from several bands including Witness, Ronnie Kole, Bag of Donuts, TopCats and The Molly Ringwalds.
A Veteran’s Tribute Ceremony will be conducted from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., featuring guest speaker Lt. Gen. Russel Honore’ (U.S. Army retired).
